Tesla
reported disappointing earnings Thursday Night. On top of that, all of a
sudden Apple is allegedly trying to make an electric car. CEO Elon Musk really set off some
blogger/journalist types with his strong comments on the future of the stock
and company.
The contrast between results and commentary got the vitriol spewing
Friday!
@jason
lays out why Apple will try to buy Tesla . Anybody who has their
first name as their twitter handle likely has a great grasp on the tech scene.
Wait,
did Apple try to buy Tesla already? That's so far outside of
the core competencies it's laughable. That said, it's only human to get
overly aggressive when you're on a roll.
However,
it’s more likely Apple is trying to dominate the infotainment side of autos.
Tesla
and Panasonic are pushing forward the opening of their battery factory. The factory is for the
Model 3, Tesla's low cost model expected to be rolled out in 2018. Maybe
they roll it out sooner?
Also
on the conference call Tesla also announced home emergency battery packs.
The coming collaboration with SolarCity will be huge. It sure
appears five-ten years down the road Tesla will be as much a battery company as
it is a car company.
The
technicals are interesting as trend support found buyers post earnings.
A
doji day formed Friday and it'll be interesting to see how the market reacts
Tuesday. The simplicity of any long trade here is the confluence of
support just 4-5% away. That's beautiful.
If
you like the company and believe in Tesla's prospects, this is a pretty
fantastic opportunity to take a shot as an investor. Is there a larger
downtrend currently underway? Yes.
My
line of thinking is this: The market has recently become buoyant.
That combined with the key support nearby gives us a helluva clue as to
what the next move is. Plus we've gotten some pretty bad news out of the
way. If shares can't hold this key support area, it'll be a clear as day sign
to sell.
The
question is, what’s the near term catalyst?
Rumors aren’t going to cut it and the battery packs are still a few
months out. This could mean it’s at best
a patient, slow money long trade.
Thanks
for reading! Trade 'em well!
